CLEARWATER, Florida – A UPS jet cancelled takeoff from St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport Monday evening when the pilot reported smoke in the plane, fire officials said.
The Boeing 757 was on the runway when the problem arose, according to an airport spokesperson. The engines were shut down and the jet was towed away.
Fire equipment from the airport and Pinellas Park responded to the alert, but all reported back in service within a few minutes of the initial call out.
No injuries were reported.
