NEWARK — Minutes after taking off from LaGuardia Airport in New York, a Spirit Airlines plane made an emergency landing at Newark Liberty on Monday night due to an “odor event,” according to a report.
Passengers from the Fort Lauderdale-bound Spirit Airlines flight 779 were moved to another plane, according to NBCMiami.com. There were no injuries.
Mechanics inspected the plane to try to figure out what cause the foul smell, the report said.
The flight left LaGuardia at 8:11 p.m. and landed at Newark at 9:21 p.m. Passengers then departed New Jersey at 1:02 a.m. Tuesday, finally arriving in South Florida at 3:27 a.m., according to Spirit’s website.
Spirit didn’t immediately respond to a request from NJ Advance Media for additional information.
