A small plane made an emergency landing on a service road along the Plano-Allen border Thursday morning.
The plane’s engine malfunctioned after it took off from Aero Country Airport, a small facility near McKinney.
The pilot was the only person on board and walked way unhurt. He guided the plane onto the service road of State Highway 121 north of Custer Road just after 9 a.m.
The scene was cleared about an hour later.
The pilot declined to comment.
A truck stopped to help block traffic as drivers reached a small hill near the scene.
The plane was later pushed off the service road and onto the grass, Allen police Sgt. Bill Smith said.
“There was no crash — it’s a good day,” Smith said.
On Dec. 31, a midair crash occurred near the same airport, which left three people dead.
