A small plane crashed into a parked car in Westerly without ever leaving the ground, according to authorities.
The plane, a Cessna 182, was being worked on at the Westerly Airport on Sunday afternoon when an engaged throttle caused the aircraft to roll away and through a fence and into a BMW.
“When the plane started up, the throttle was accidentally left engaged and the plane immediately began rolling,” told Westerly Police Capt.Shawn Lacey.
“The rotors were running, which caused the scene to appear worse than it was.”
Two people who were working on the plane suffered minor injuries, while the car and plane were damaged.
The crash is under investigation.
