SANDTOWN, Del.- Delaware State Police say a crop duster plane crashed into a field southwest of Sandtown in Kent County on Wednesday morning.
Police said the incident happened at around 9:20 a.m. when the privately-owned plane crashed in a bean field just off Mahan Corner Road, east of Still Road.
The pilot, who was the sole occupant, was removed from the aircraft and has been transported to an area hospital with undetermined injuries.
The investigation is in its early stages and more information will be released when it becomes available, police said.
The Delaware Department of Transportation is advising drivers to avoid the area around the crash scene until the utility companies repair the downed power lines.
DelDOT personnel, police and fire officials are detouring traffic within this area.
