Helicopter Crashes News — 12 July 2017

Only minor injuries have been reported after a helicopter crashed Tuesday afternoon outside Truckee.

California Highway Patrol said on Facebook that the crash happened on the top of Donner Summit, and that officers are on scene.

Officer Pete Mann with CHP said officers got the report of the crash just after 3:40 p.m. Tuesday, July 11. Six people were on board, and they reported just minor injuries.

Ian Gregor, spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration, said the helicopter is operated by utility company PG&E.

The aircraft tipped over onto its side after hitting a tree near Kidd Lake, according to Gregor, and the FAA will investigate.
