Four people have been pulled from the wreckage of a light plane after it flipped upon landing at an airport on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
Emergency services were called to Caloundra Airport about 11:50am today after reports the plane, which had taken off from Gold Coast, appeared to stall on the runway and flip onto its roof.
“We saw it on the final leg and it looked like it had a strong cross wind on landing,” witness Chris Gleeson told.
“One of the wings dropped, and she went into the ground.”
While two passengers were removed with minor injuries, rescue teams worked to free the pilot and a male passenger who were pinned under the wreckage.
All four passengers were taken to hospital, where the pilot remains in a critical condition.
Caloundra Airport was closed as investigators searched the aircraft to determine the cause of the crash.
