A Boise pilot was killed Friday in an Owyhee County plane crash.
Dean Hilde, 56, an experienced recreational pilot, died in the crash, which occurred at about 9:15 a.m. A passenger, Gerald Bublitz, 42, of Boise, was seriously injured, according to Owyhee County Sheriff Perry Grant. Bublitz was transported by air ambulance.
Hilde and Bublitz were in a single-engine Piper PA18 Super Cub about 25 miles outside of Murphy, according to a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration. They were near Flint Creek Road, according to Grant.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.
OWYHEE COUNTY – A Boise pilot died Friday in a plane crash in Owyhee County, sheriff’s officials said.
The Owyhee County Sheriff’s Office said 56-year-old Dean Hilde was flying a personal aircraft in the Combination area of the county – southeast of the Jordan and Pleasant Valley area – when he apparently encountered tough, windy conditions.
The plane was forced into a hillside.
Hilde was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, 42-year-old Gerald Bublitz of Boise, suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital by air ambulance.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.

This is happening more frequently and there should be an investigation
